The 2021 Audi RS 3 Limousine lapped the Nordschleife in 7:40.748 with Frank Stippler driving. This is the sedan, not the RS 3 Sportback already on the site. The later 7:33.12 facelift is a different lap and is not stored.

Official compact-class record published by the Nürburgring on 3 August 2021, after the 2019 rule that a full lap is 20.832 km. The circuit post does not restate the kilometre figure. evo files 7:40.74 in the same full-lap compact table as the M2 CS and dates the lap 14 June 2021, which is the date stored. Audi prints 7:40.748 for the RS 3 Limousine. 7:40.74 and 7:40.748 are the same lap. Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R. Not the RS 3 Sportback, and not the later 7:33.12 facelift.

Why it's so fast

A car is fast when the force pushing it forward still beats the air, and when the tires and the gearing can use that force. A limiter is a different fact from an unlimited run.

    Top speed is the balance point: thrust equals aerodynamic drag. The gearing has to still be pulling when the car gets there, or the engine falls off its power.
