Space

The sourced space list is orbital speed around the Sun. Eight planets and Pluto come from a single column on NASA's planetary fact sheet, so the definition does not change from row to row. Mercury is fastest at 47.4 km/s. Pluto, listed on that sheet as a dwarf planet, is slowest here at 4.7 km/s. HyperPhysics reprints the same NASA numbers, with an extra digit on Uranus, Neptune and Pluto that this ranking does not use.

The Moon is not a row. NASA's notes say the Moon's 1.0 km/s is its average speed around Earth, not around the Sun. Putting it beside Mercury would mix two reference frames. Earth's detail sheet prints 29.78 km/s against the comparison table's 29.8. The table value is the rank, and the detail sheet is explained on Earth's page. Spacecraft are vehicles: the Parker Solar Probe is heliocentric, and Apollo 10 is Earth-relative.

Stars, pulsars, comets and light are unpublished. Nine bodies are short of the ten-entry gate, so this hub stays out of the search index. Checked 8 October 2026.
