Fastest 100 m Sprinters in the World (2026)
These are legal men's outdoor 100 m personal bests, one per athlete, from the World Athletics all-time list. The same twelve marks appear on the World Athletics toplist and on Athletic Stats, refreshed 5 October 2026. The time, the wind, the venue and the date agree. The metric is race time. Lower is faster. A tailwind above +2.0 m/s is illegal, so those marks are not here. Gay's +2.0 is the legal limit and is included.

9.78s
Usain Bolt's 9.58, wind +0.9 m/s, at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on 16 August 2009, is the world record. Yohan Blake and Tyson Gay share 9.69. Christian Coleman, Trayvon Bromell and Fred Kerley share 9.76. Ferdinand Omanyala and Oblique Seville share 9.77. Ties share a rank, and the next rank skips. Nesta Carter's 9.78 in Rieti on 29 August 2010 is the twelfth row because it is still on the all-time list.
The list stops at twelve. A 200 m by the same athlete is a different page, with a different slug, so one person is not given two primary times on this metric. Checked 8 October 2026.
