Race time

Official time for the men's outdoor 400 meters. One personal best per athlete. A disputed newer mark is not a separate figure until two compilations match the governing list.

World Athletics, Athletic Stats and Track & Field News agree on these nine times and dates.
Collen Kebinatshipi's marks do not agree across the three compilations, so he is absent.
Michael Johnson's 200 m is a different slug from his 400 m.
