This list

Why it's so fast

An NFL Combine 40 is a 40-yard sprint from a still start, timed electronically. Lower is faster. Hand times and pro-day times stay off this list.

  1. No running start

The clock starts from a set position. Acceleration over the first ten yards is most of what separates the fastest times.

  2. The official clock

The ranked time is the electronic time the NFL posts. A number that flashes on a board and is later revised is not stored as its own row.

This is how the category works. A note written for this entry appears here once it is in the database.
