Context
The ranked speed is 29.8 km/s, the orbital-velocity cell for Earth on NASA's planetary fact sheet. The sheet's notes say orbital velocity is the average speed of the body as it orbits the Sun. HyperPhysics reprints the same NASA column.
The Earth detail sheet prints a mean of 29.78 km/s, with a maximum of 30.29 and a minimum of 29.29. The ranking uses the comparison table's 29.8. The detail-sheet figure is not a second measurement. The Moon's 1.0 km/s is left off this list: the notes say that value is its average speed around Earth, not around the Sun.
