Why it's so fast
Game data
Mega Aerodactyl sits here because the games give its Mega Evolution a base Speed of 150. That integer is a battle stat. The explanation is game lore, not a running speed.
A stat, not a stopwatch
Base Speed is the number a battle uses before natures, items and stages. PokéAPI, Bulbapedia and Serebii agree on 150 for Mega Aerodactyl. None of them timed an animal.
Mega Evolution adds Speed
Mega Aerodactyl keeps the fossil pterosaur idea and publishes a new stat block. The games move the numbers, including Speed, when the Mega Stone is used. It is a different row because the stat block is different.
Mega Evolution
Mega Aerodactyl is Aerodactyl's Mega Evolution. The games publish a separate stat block, so it is not folded into the base form.
Nearby on the base Speed list: Pheromosa and Mega Alakazam. Same kind of stat. Different lore.
