Why it's so fast

An electric car makes torque as soon as the motor turns. Top speed is the harder question: how long that push keeps winning against the air, and whether software stops the car first.

  1. Torque without a wait

    There is no turbo lag and, on most of these cars, no multi-gear hunt on the way to the ranked speed. The launch and the top speed are still two different problems.

  2. Batteries and software

    A battery has to supply the current, and a limiter may cut the run before drag does. The sources say which of those the figure is.

The Nürburgring prints 7:07.55 for a pre-series car and calls the finish the Nordschleife full lap. evo prints 7:07.55 on 2 January 2024, which is the date stored. A later Taycan Turbo GT with Manthey Kit time is a different specification and is not stored.
